JANUARY 3, 2006 - SAN PEDRO, CA. - The new year brought long deserved national attention to the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival as the Food Network's "Secret Life of...Succulent Seafood" features San Pedro's premier signature event saluting the King of Crustaceans during January. "Secret Life of..." host Jim O'Connor takes viewers to the Lobster Festival in the closing "On the Road" segment of his show.

"I've been holding my breath ever since the network contacted us in August. They sent their staff to last September's fest to check us out and had a great time. Being recognized by the Food Network means San Pedro's own Lobster Festival now joins the big boys when it comes to food events," said Jim Hall, Lobster Festival producer. "No other food festival in Southern California has been featured by the Food Network and their coverage this month puts us right up there claw-to-claw with the mother of all lobster festivals, the 58 year-old Maine Lobster Festival."

The "Secret Life of....Succulent Seafood," which aired twice on January 2, can be seen January 3 at 2 am; January 7 at 3 pm and January 22 at 6:30 pm. The show will be repeated later in the year.

"Believe it or not, it was the LobsterDog Pet Parade that caught the Food Network's attention," said Hall. "They have considered us for two other shows in the past, but our dates never coincided with their production schedules. However, being the foodies that they are they've visited us each year. Last year Peninsula Dog Parks put on an exceptional parade and San Pedro Fish Markets debuted their massive lobster cooker and the two combined really got the Food Network folks excited. We were scrambling to get footage and copy to them right after the festival."

The Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival is the World's Largest Lobster Festival and is sponsored by the Port of Los Angeles. This year guests will be treated to a tour of San Pedro Fish Market's amazing World's Largest Lobster Cooker as they pick up their meals. The dates of the three day Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival are Sept. 15, 16, 17, 2006 in San Pedro, CA at scenic Ports O' Call Village. The festival is on the web at www.lobsterfest.com.
